The base for TLH Heliskiing is at Tyax Mountain Lake Resort, on the shores of beautiful Tyaughton Lake, approximately 125 miles (200 km) north of Vancouver, British Columbia. Transfers to Tyax Mountain Lake Resort are provided by courtesy bus from Vancouver or Whistler Resort.
Helicopter transfers from Vancouver or Whistler can be arranged on request.
The Ski Area To the west lies a vast expanse of glaciers, remnants from the Ice Age, which still cover hundreds of square kilometers. To the east lies the rolling, dry Fraser Plateau. TLH Heliskiing operates in the transition zone providing the best of all worlds ? magnificent mountains, an abundance of dry powder snow and plenty of sunshine. To date they have in excess of 300 heliskiing runs in an area of 830,000 acres. That's 3,500 km2 (1,300 miles2), or roughly 200 times the size of the ski area of Vail, Colorado.
Average Snowfall
The average annual snowfall at 5,900 feet (1,800 meters) is approximately 45 to 60 feet (14 to 18 meters) which leaves an average base of 10 to 12 feet (3 to 4 meters) of snow on the ground. It's not unusual to find 16 feet (5 meters) or more of snow at higher elevations on the glaciers.
